Plastic Rotational Moulding

Delivering a New Ownership Model: How Organisational Excellence Funded a Successful Succession Plan

Industry: Plastic Moulding
Revenue: $6M - $10M
Team Size: 20 Staff
Ownership Structure: Privately held by a three-person ownership group

The Problem: The business had a clear succession goal but lacked the vehicle to achieve it. The two senior shareholders wanted to pass their legacy to the Operational General Manager, but he only owned a small percentage of the company and lacked the personal capital required to buy them out.
Operationally, the business was flying blind. There was no formal reporting, marketing was poor, and the small operational leadership team needed significant development. Without systems and clear data, the business could not generate the excess capital needed to fund the internal buyout.

The ACBE Solution: We stepped in to build the operational engine required to fund the succession plan: Leadership Development: We worked intensively with the operational leadership team to elevate their capability and transition them into true decision-makers.
Systemisation & KPIs: We installed clear KPIs across every critical area of the business, including sales, delivery/couriers, and external marketing. This gave the leadership team immediate visibility into their growth levers and operational bottlenecks.
Strategic Brand Expansion: To diversify revenue and increase margins, we developed a proprietary brand for the agricultural sector, allowing them to take their own manufactured products to market alongside their existing contract moulding work.

The Outcome: Funded Succession: By optimising the leadership team and operations, we achieved an initial 18% growth in Gross Profit (GP). This newly generated capital was used to successfully fund the share transfer, allowing the Operational GM to become the majority shareholder.
Measurable Growth: The business is now trading at approximately 22% higher GP overall.
Market Authority: They successfully launched their own brand into the market, creating a highly profitable new revenue stream.
Legacy Secured: The senior shareholders achieved their desired exit, confidently passing the business to a capable, system-driven successor.

The Client Quote: “Once I had a plan, once I had a journey out in front of me, it wasn’t as hard as I thought. The two other older shareholders are wrapped to be able to pass on their legacy to the new guy.” — Operational General Manager & Majority Shareholder
